What You'll Do:

  • Lead employee relations, investigations, and performance management
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (AHCA, CMS, OSHA, DOL) and all applicable employment laws regulations.
  • Partner with leadership on staffing, retention, and workforce planning
  • Maintain survey readiness, and support and conduct audits and inspections as needed to ensure compliance
  • Oversee licensure, onboarding, and HR compliance processes

What We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years of HR experience (healthcare preferred)
  • Strong employee relations and compliance background
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build trust across all levels
  • Experience in Nursing Home, ALF, or Rehab setting a plus
  • Ability to work onsite daily in a 24/7 environment
  • Excellent communication skills

Job Summary

The Human Resources Director/Manager is responsible for overseeing all HR functions within a healthcare facility, including Nursing Home, ALF, and Rehabilitation operations. This role ensures compliance with all federal, state, and regulatory requirements while supporting facility leadership in maintaining appropriate staffing levels, employee relations, and operational readiness. The HR Manager serves as a key onsite partner to leadership, driving accountability, compliance, and workforce stability in a highly regulated, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Compliance

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable regulations, including AHCA, CMS, HIPAA, OSHA, DOL, EEOC, and Joint Commission requirements.
  • Maintain survey readiness at all times; participate in surveys, audits, and complaint investigations, and support Plans of Correction (POCs) as needed.
  • Partner with leadership to ensure compliance with staffing requirements.
  • Conduct regular HR audits related to employee records, licensure, classifications, and documentation integrity.

Staffing & Workforce Management

  • Partner with DON, Staffing Coordinator, and Talent Acquisition to maintain appropriate staffing levels and reduce reliance on agency staffing.
  • Monitor attendance, overtime, and staffing trends; enforce attendance policies and ensure timekeeping accuracy.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding processes in collaboration with the Talent Acquisition team.

Employee Relations & Investigations

  • Lead employee relations matters, including coaching, counseling, and progressive discipline.
  • Conduct and document investigations related to employee complaints, policy violations, and workplace concerns, including matters involving abuse, neglect, or misconduct.
  • Support leadership in managing high-risk employee situations and maintaining a respectful, compliant work environment.

Licensure & Credentialing

  • Ensure all licensed staff maintain current and valid credentials; conduct regular audits of licenses, certifications, and required training.
  • Oversee background screening, exclusion checks (OIG/GSA), and compliance with all pre-employment requirements.

Training & Performance Management

  • Ensure completion of required trainings, including orientation, LMS modules, Virtus, compliance training, and regulatory requirements.
  • Administer performance management processes, ensuring timely and accurate evaluations.
  • Support leadership development and reinforce accountability across all levels of staff.

Risk Management & Collaboration

  • Partner with Risk Management and leadership on incident-related employee matters and documentation.
  • Support investigations and corrective actions related to compliance, safety, and employee conduct.

Onsite Presence & Accountability

  • Maintain a consistent onsite presence to support daily operations, employee engagement, and real-time issue resolution.
  • Serve as a visible and accessible resource for employees and leadership.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum 5 years of HR experience, with at least 2-3 years in a healthcare setting (Nursing Home/ALF/Rehab preferred).
  • Strong experience in employee relations, compliance, and regulatory environments required.

Key Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and labor laws.
  • Proven ability to manage employee relations in high-volume, high-risk environments.
  • Strong organizational, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and workforce data analysis.

Work Environment

  • Full-time, onsite role in a healthcare facility.
  • Requires the ability to respond to operational and employee issues in real time.
  • May require occasional travel between facilities.

Note: This position requires a high level of accountability, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex employee and compliance matters in a regulated healthcare environment.
