Job Description

Plans, installs, transitions, and cuts over network components for voice, data, and video telecommunications systems. Installs and maintains fiber optic and copper cabling, network outlets, racks, patch panels, blocks, and related wiring. Tests circuits using diagnostic equipment and supports ongoing operation and maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure. Troubleshoots issues, coordinates with vendors, and recommends and implements improvements to telecommunications systems and services.

Core Responsibilities:

• Work with Cisco 6500 series layer 3 switches
• Support network analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance
• Diagnose faults and perform minor repairs on telecommunications equipment
• Install, test, modify, troubleshoot, and repair wireless and wired telecommunications systems
• Integrate multiple engineering and technical disciplines into fiber-optic network solutions
• Maintain vendor relationships and coordinate service or equipment updates

Requirements:

Education:

• Associate degree in a related field
• OR
• Three years of relevant experience in lieu of degree

Certification:

• CompTIA Security+ certification (minimum requirement)

Experience:

• Three years of experience with network performance analysis
• Three years of experience in telecommunications maintenance, vendor coordination, and systems procurement recommendations

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Voice, data, and video telecommunications systems including installation, operation, and maintenance of cabling and equipment
• Telecommunications system performance testing, diagnostics, and troubleshooting
• Installing and maintaining telecommunications cabling systems including fiber optic and copper
• Testing voice and data circuits using diagnostic equipment
• Diagnosing faults, isolating problem areas, and performing minor repairs on telecommunications equipment
• Ability to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair telecommunications systems including voice, data, and video networks
• Ability to manage enterprise telecommunications infrastructure and ensure systems are operational and reliable
• Ability to provide diagnostics and corrective action to sustain reliable telecommunications equipment and services
