Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Senior Assistant Attorney General and the supervision of a Deputy Attorney General Supervisor, the Special Investigator conducts criminal and civil investigations independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team to  investigate suspected violation of laws, including but not limited to criminal laws impacting consumers (such as grand theft), civil and criminal consumer protection laws, and privacy laws;  obtaining and verifying evidence to support civil and criminal enforcement; interviewing witnesses and victims, reviewing and analyzing documents; conducting and completing investigations; testifying in civil and criminal proceedings as necessary; maintaining accurate case files; providing technical assistance and training to others; drafting or assisting with drafting search warrants; coordinating with and securing the assistance of sister regulatory and enforcement agencies; preparing clear, concise and accurate reports and documents and reports detailing investigation activities and findings; and performing other related duties. Successful completion of PC 832 Arrest, Search and Seizure training is required, which may be performed after hire.
