Overview:

The Planet Group is seeking a Simulator Engineer to support and coordinate upgrades and modifications to plant training simulators across multiple project phases. This role focuses on ensuring simulator accuracy, compliance, and alignment with plant design changes in a nuclear environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and manage changes to multiple plant simulators across at least five upgrade phases
• Document technical impacts of Digital I&C design changes on simulator systems
• Collaborate with I&C and simulator vendors to ensure accurate implementation of updates
• Attend project team meetings and partner with lead engineers to identify and document simulator impacts
• Review and validate simulator change documentation from vendors
• Ensure simulators remain compliant with applicable standards and accurately reflect plant configurations

Simulator Environment:

• ANSI 3.5 Certified Operations Training Simulator
• Full Scope Glass Top Plant Simulator

Required Qualifications:

• Experience as an NRC-certified Reactor Operator (RO)
• Proven experience managing simulator changes and upgrades
• Familiarity with maintaining compliance for ANSI 3.5 accredited simulators
• Minimum 3+ years of experience supporting simulator maintenance and upgrades
• Involvement in at least one major simulator software or hardware upgrade
• Nuclear industry experience is required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Reactor Operator (RO) or Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license
• Senior Instructor Training Certification
• Previous experience as a nuclear plant Simulator Engineer
• Experience with Corys simulator environments
• Working knowledge of PLCs, DCS, and control systems (especially Emerson Ovation)
• Familiarity with nuclear plant systems, including P&IDs and Test Loop Diagrams (TLDs)
• Knowledge of instrumentation (temperature, pressure, flow, analytical systems)

Education:

• Degree in Engineering or related technical training (e.g., simulator networking, HMI systems, instrumentation & controls)

Soft Skills:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to lead, collaborate, and work effectively across multi-disciplinary teams
• Comfortable working in a highly regulated, safety-critical environment
