IT Support Specialist

Position Overview

We are seeking a proactive IT Support Specialist to provide technical assistance and ensure smooth operation of IT systems across the organization. This role delivers front-line support for end users, maintains workstations and peripherals, supports MacOS environments and Blackbaud applications, and contributes to IT projects and documentation. The ideal candidate combines strong customer-service skills with hands-on technical ability and familiarity with AppleOS and Blackbaud systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to user requests via ticketing system, phone, email, and in-person; diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Provide first- and second-line support for MacOS and Windows workstations, including setup, imaging, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Administer and support Blackbaud products used by the organization, including user setup, permissions, data validation, and coordination with vendor support when needed.
  • Install, configure, and maintain peripherals and mobile devices (printers, scanners, phones, tablets) and manage device inventories and asset tagging.
  • Perform software installations, updates, patch management, and antivirus maintenance to ensure systems remain secure and up to date.
  • Deliver remote support and on-site assistance as required, including troubleshooting network connectivity, VPN, and basic server access issues.
  • Create and maintain clear technical documentation, knowledge-base articles, and user guides to improve support efficiency and user self-service.
  • Train and coach end users on common tools, best practices, and security awareness (passwords, phishing, data handling).
  • Escalate complex incidents to senior IT staff or external vendors, and follow through to resolution; participate in after-hours support or scheduled maintenance when necessary.
  • Contribute to IT projects such as rollouts, migrations, and backups; assist with testing and deployment activities to meet project timelines.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience in IT support, helpdesk, or desktop support role; experience supporting MacOS environments strongly preferred.
  • Direct experience with Blackbaud products or similar ERP/CRM systems and familiarity with typical administrative tasks and data workflows.
  • Proven knowledge of MacOS (installation, troubleshooting, updates) and working knowledge of Windows desktop environments.
  • CompTIA A+ or equivalent technical certification preferred; Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) or related certifications a plus.
  • Familiarity with common networking concepts (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS), VPNs, and basic troubleshooting tools.
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage a ticket queue, and work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail, good documentation practices, and commitment to security and data privacy.
  • Willingness to lift and move IT equipment occasionally and to participate in occasional off-hours maintenance as required.
